By: Lana Jelic | More News: Celebrities & Entertainment | Posted: 21 hours, 33 mins ago

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, has announced that he has partnered up with Apple to develop a movie which stars no other than Siri. Because that makes total sense, right? If Steve Jobs got multiple movies, then it's only fair that Siri gets one too!

The movie is named The Rock x Siri: Dominate The Day, and it will be released on YouTube. Very little is known about the movie at this point, and the promotional poster reveals...very little or very much...

We can see The Rock holding an iPhone 7 Plus...then space, a plane, robot, car, and more Dwayne Johnson. Also Chinese lanterns?

Streaming juggernaut Netflix continues to grow: the company recently announced that it broke the 100 million subscriber barrier in its second quarter, with 104 million current members. Netflix reports boosts in revenues and subscribers, but weathered a 50% drop in operating income.

The titan raked in $2.78 billion in total revenues in the three month period ending June 30, 2017, up 32.3% year-over-year from Q2'16. Perhaps the most impressive jump is how many new subscribers Netflix earned--the company beat Wall Street's outlandish estimates by pulling in 5.2 million new subscribers during the quarter, or more than 200% more new subscribers year-over-year.

There's been rumblings of an Assassin's Creed TV show for a while now, but today it's been made official: Assassin's Creed is getting an original anime series. Following the success of the Assassin's Creed feature-length film adaptation, Ubisoft has conscripted film producer Adi Shankar to "create an original story set in an anime series."

Shankar, who's known for his work producing films like The Grey and Dredd, is currently working on Castlevania's anime adaptation at Netflix's behest.

The streaming giant will also make a live-action series based on The Witcher books, which have been made into a million-dollar gaming franchise.

Shankar says that the Assassin's Creed anime will be his "next project," so it's possible it won't release until 2018 or beyond when Castlevania wraps up.

The 'Jumanji' reboot trailer is let loose

By: Ben Gourlay | More News: Celebrities & Entertainment | Posted: Jul 3, 2017 12:03 am

The reboot of the 1995 family classic 'Jumanji' which starred Robin Williams and a shed-load of early CGI animals has been released to the web, but not everyone's happy with the updated elements found within.

Starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan, 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle' finds four high school kids sucked into an old video game console (not a board game) and forced to survive the jungle environment that Alan Parrish survived all those years ago. The film is directed by Jake Kasdan, son of 'Star Wars' co-writer and producer Lawrence Kasdan.

'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle' hits cinemas worldwide in December.

By: Ben Gourlay | More News: Celebrities & Entertainment | Posted: Jun 26, 2017 7:18 am

After letting the franchise rest for over a decade, the $350 million haul of 'xXX: The Return of Xander Cage' at the international box office has ensured that a fourth film in the series will happen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a new production company called 'The H Collective' has been formed and will include 'xXx 4' in its first slate of films to hit. Veteran Producer Joe Roth, one of the proponents of the new company hasn't shied away from making big investments, saying "In today's Hollywood, it requires strong partners to produce and finance such big-budget movies as the xXx series".

There's no current word on a director or script as of yet, so it might be a few years before 'xXx' rides again.

'Han Solo' spin-off directors fired by LucasFilm CEO

By: Ben Gourlay | More News: Celebrities & Entertainment | Posted: Jun 21, 2017 5:56 am

Hot on the heels of the behind the scenes drama on last year's 'Star Wars' spin-off 'Rogue One', it looks as though the upcoming 'Han Solo' is also in trouble.

In an official announcement released today, directing duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller have announced their departure from the project, despite principal photography nearing an end, saying "Unfortunately, our vision and process weren't aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren't fans of the phrase 'creative differences' but for once this cliché is true". But rather than parting ways amicably as the official line suggests, a report from Variety has revealed that LucasFilm CEO Kathy Kennedy fired the pair, with a source revealing that "it was a culture clash from day one... they weren't given the leeway to do what they had to do". Such was the animosity between the three, it's said that "She [Kennedy] didn't even like the way they folded their socks."

LucasFilm have promised to announce a replacement director soon, with the previously announced May 25, 2018 release date to remain.
